Windmill Hill Primary School to benefit from government's £1 billion school rebuilding programme
I'm absolutely delighted that Windmill Hill Primary School is one of seven Sheffield schools to benefit the Department for Education’s £1 Billion school rebuilding programme.
Since being elected I've been working closely with the Steel City Schools Partnership to campaign for government funding to be prioritised for this wonderful school. The Windmill Hill team are doing a fantastic job but the school building is in a poor state of repair.
Every investment in our children's future is an investment in our country and I would like to see more local schools benefit from investment in school buildings to give our children the best possible learning environment.
From speaking to residents I know just how important Windmill Hill is to residents of Burncross and Chapeltown. The school's inclusion in the rebuilding programme will significantly improve facilities for staff and pupils which will benefit future generations too. Recognising that the scale of this programme means it will take time, I will be calling on the Department for Education make sure that the critical importance of this work is understood and that it is undertaken at the earliest opportunity, so that pupils and staff alike can take advantage of the new facilities in the near future.
I want to thank the team at Windmill Hill and Steel City Schools Partnership for all their hard work in getting this funding, and I look forward to working with them to ensure the investment happens soon and delivers the anticipated benefits.
Levelling up is all about giving everyone the chance to succeed no matter where they live. Investing in children and education is one of the best ways we can deliver this vital mission, and that's why I'm so pleased the Government is doing that right here in our constituency.
