Supporting communities - High Green Development Trust
I’d like to thank the team at High Green Development Trust for inviting me to tour the brilliant range of facilities they have on offer, including at The Campus - where I offered my ongoing support for their work.
The Campus acts as a community hub and business centre, offering services to support people from all walks of life, across a wide catchment area.
Whilst on my visit it was a pleasure to speak with South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF), Blossom View Respite Home and Steps Nursery and to learn more about the Trust's Community Shop. I was also hugely encouraged to hear about the work of the South Yorkshire Funding Advice Bureau. SYCF are themselves an incredible resource offering support to voluntary and community groups, which helps to support projects across Sheffield.
I’m pleased that we have such a diverse provider of services and activities here in the constituency, delivering much needed support for those who need it most. Whilst the Government must take the lead role in ensuring people are supported, the work of local community organisations also has a key role to play. The people volunteering, and working to help others value that opportunity whilst local people benefit from the support they receive.
I look forward to keeping up-to-date with the Trust, and businesses residents at The Campus and will continue to work in Westminster to ensure our invaluable community groups get the funding they deserve.
